Sorry for the long absence but to update you on what I had been working on...
I began modelling my scene based on the ideas and design that I had come up with a couple of weeks ago. I made use of a lot of modifiers to objects that I was putting in my scene. The modifiers included the Bend modifier which I used to make the road bend by the axis to about 100 degrees and to also make a landscape. I used a cloth modifier to make a blanket, turbosmooth for the landscape and lathe for making a jar. I made a lot of use of the coordinate system in 3DS Max, putting in several basic shapes and modifying them so as to suit what I intended them to become as part of my scene. My approach was to achieve some level of realism, but to an extent as too much would then be costing to my rendering time in future. I took care in naming all the shapes that I put into the scene so as for reference and to help me use them and assign materials.
